em and the uncles

now that's commitment to friendship!

Just three days apart, couldn't have planned it better if we tried! It was so exciting to see Sharon and compare notes on our pregnancies and winge about our aches and pains. It's Sharon's second time around so Woz and I drilled her and Scott with questions! Who would have thought Sharon, when we were living together all those years ago that we would be pregnant at the same time? So exciting! The Leach Weatherhead combination didn't ever happen but perhaps it could skip a generation?Posted by Picasa

the wedding

After much antcipation the wedding day arrived. The day went very smoothly and it was a great opportunity for everyone to get together. Here's a few shots taken by my uncle Greg of the big day.

no boys allowed

The boys tried to nuzzle their way in to the baby shower. It seems they were willing to put up with a houseful of girls oohing and ahhing at baby clothes for the opporunity to feast on Sharons cooking. Can't say I blame them. Posted by Picasa

em and terri at the baby shower

Although it was a whirlwind visit we managed to find an afternoon for all the girls to get together for a baby shower. I had a great time catching up with everyone and was blown away with the generosity of everyone with all the gifts Woz and I were given for the next little Parker.Posted by Picasa

not so trigger happy

After such a long time away it was great to fly back to Australia for a short visit and see everyone again. We took our video camera and SLR but barely took a shot. Here's a few some friends sent us. We'd love to get a copy of any more if anyone has any.

not long now ...

In just two weeks we'll be half way through our journey to Melbourne. I'm counting down the working days in desperation (6 and a half days to go!) and Woz is counting down his working days in a slight panic (well as much as Woz is capable of panicing!) as he has so much to finish before then. This week has been really busy for him and the next will be worse.

Boat wise we're still plodding along, with each job we finish making a huge impact on the feel of the boat. When we get back from our trip we'll have an extra hour of daylight and hopefully a change in the weather which will mean we can start taking the boat out again. Today we have a sun drenched day and have reached double figures for the first time in weeks with the grand temperature of 10 degrees! One of the students I work with who is slightly obsessive compulsive regarding the weather (he wont talk about anything else!) informs me that they've predicted 15 degrees for next week which compared with the usual 4 or 5 degrees we've been seeing is a heat wave!

a chilly spring morn

This morning we woke to find the entire basin had iced over with a thick layer of ice. The canal has iced over before but only partially. This is the first time it has crept its way over to our boat. Posted by Picasa

would you like ice with that? Posted by Picasa

playing with their minds

Today is the first day of Spring and the sun is out! Walking to work this morning I spotted some buds on the bare trees - you can imagine my delight. It's been bitterly cold here again this week, around 3 or 4 degrees most days and snowing. Not enough snow to hold on much after early morning though but we do live in Central London.

The baby is kicking so much now and I absolutely love it! Everynow and then I'll have a huge beaming smile on my face while I'm talking to someone or at work and they'll just stop and say "The baby is kicking isn't it?" I can't help it! It's such an incredible experience!

I've worked out a good trick though for keeping the kids at work quiet. If they're too rowdy I tell them that I've just got the baby to sleep and they'll wake it up if they're not quiet. They actually have a lot of respect for the fact that I'm pregnant and they calm down immediately .... well for two or three minutes anyway! The game will soon be up though when they click and ask me exactly how I have just got the baby to sleep.
